161 Days To Go!

If you’re turning this into a mini vacation and arriving a few days early, which we highly recommend, be sure to check out our Things To Do tab. We’ve shared our favorite suggestions for restaurants, sights, and places to explore in Mexico City proper to help you make the most of your time there before the wedding!

Recommended Airport

For travel, we recommend flying into Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez. It’s the most convenient option with the widest range of flight times and airline choices, especially if you plan to spend a few days exploring before heading to the wedding location.

Travel documents to have on hand

- A valid passport. Make sure it does not expire within six months of your travel dates.

- A return or onward ticket, as this is sometimes requested at immigration.

- Your accommodation details, including hotel or Airbnb address.

- While visas are not required for US citizens traveling to Mexico for tourism, always double check current entry requirements before you travel.

Helpful travel tips for Mexico

- Bring both a credit card and a debit card. Credit cards are widely accepted in major cities, but cash is still useful for taxis, tips, and smaller spots.

- Use Uber or authorized taxis when possible, especially at the airport.

- Keep a copy of your passport saved on your phone, just in case.

- Pack comfortable walking shoes. Mexico City is very walkable and you will want to explore.

Airlines flying to Mexico City from the United States

- American Airlines

- Delta Airlines

- United Airlines

- Southwest Airlines

- JetBlue Airlines

We’ll most likely be flying American Airlines ourselves and arriving a few days early. Think honeymoon before the wedding. Why not start the celebration early.

Recommended Transport to San Miguel de Allende

photo

For transportation, we highly recommend using BajioGo as your primary option for getting to San Miguel de Allende. We will be using this service on November 5th leaving from Mexico City International Airport Benito Juarez.

BajioGo offers reliable, comfortable shuttle service with professional drivers who know the route well. It’s an easy, stress free way to travel, especially if you’d rather not rent a car. The ride is scenic and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.

The approximate cost is $35 to $45 USD per person one way (please be sure to contact them for exact pricing) for a shared shuttle, making it a great balance of comfort and value. They also offer private transfers if you prefer a more personalized option.

It’s a popular choice for travelers heading to San Miguel, and one we feel confident recommending.
